A huge Slip N Slide attraction, scheduled to be in operation in Birmingham today, doesn’t seem to have materialised, as no additional details have been confirmed since an official announcement last year.
The event’s Facebook page had Saturday 2nd July, 2016 as the date listed for the event in the city, but a silence since and no additional confirmation suggests the fun day isn’t going ahead.
A similar event was also billed for last summer but failed to take place.
Reportedly run by US firm Slide The City, the organisation’s official Facebook page is also currently non-existent.

The ride is marketed on Slide The City’s website as:
“Slide the City is a family friendly slip n’ slide water party event. There will be music and food, and of course you are welcome to bring your own food (no alcohol please). And we’ll also bring the biggest slip-and-slide that you’ve ever seen. Don’t worry, we’ve got it padded. This slide’s got more cushion than your grandpa’s orthopedic shoes.”
A turn on the water slide is advertised as costing £20 on the event website. The Facebook page for Birmingham had generated the interest of 8,000 people.

The official Slide the City website features Birmingham as a location for their ride, but with no confirmed date

An additional page was created last month for a similar ‘Slip N Fly’ attraction, described as taking place on 15th August. This was created by the same organisers, listed on the social media site as ”Slip N Slide – Birmingham” and, oddly, as a ‘Political Party’.

Some have speculated these event pages may not be connected to the official event organisers, a US outfit, but may be using the hype of the event to promote other third party services instead.
